Tailored Trousers And Sleek Fits Are Back

After years of living large in oversized silhouettes, menswear is slowly pivoting back to tailored fits.

After years of living large in oversized silhouettes, menswear is slowly pivoting back to tailored fits. That’s right, wide-leg jeans, boxy jackets, and slouchy shirts aren’t disappearing overnight, but slim, structured pieces are staking their claim. And honestly? We loved the oversized era. Menswear has never been this playful, with standout drops from COS, Valentino, and Louis Vuitton keeping things exciting. But fashion is cyclical, and the pendulum is swinging.

Oversized isn’t dead, so don’t hit up The RealReal just yet. But tailored shapes are starting to share the spotlight. Dior’s Pre-Fall 2026 collection, for example, paired relaxed trousers with sharply tapered options. Celine and Wooyoungmi also put slim-fit denim front and center in their Spring/Summer 2026 lines, signaling that structure is making a comeback.

At this year’s Critics Choice Awards, Jacob Elordi opted for a noticeably slimmer silhouette, a departure from the oversized tailoring he’s become known for. Paul Mescal and Michael B. Jordan (who by the way look stunning in Louis Vuitton) also embraced sharper, more streamlined looks that leaned into classic red-carpet elegance.

Of course, this is fashion forecasting—so maybe we’re a little early to call it. The real verdict will come from upcoming runway shows and street style during fashion weeks and post from the fashion people on Instagram. Until then, think of this as a gentle nudge to start exploring the tailored side of your wardrobe.
