Petals & Poetry Marks Studio Haydee Garcia's Move Beyond Bridal

Studio Haydee Garcia enters ready-to-wear with a clear idea that romance can remain current when it is engineered with enough discipline to move beyond the bridal salon. Petals & Poetry follows nearly a decade of bespoke gowns and couture formalwear, alongside the opening of the house’s first atelier at Proscenium at Rockwell on July 4, 2026. Catriona Gray, its runway muse, gives the project a visible introduction, though the collection earns attention through the clothes themselves.


The floral halter gown establishes Garcia’s method through an elongated bodice and a substantial pleated skirt. Cream jacquard gives the red botanicals depth, making them appear embedded in the cloth rather than printed across its surface. The silhouette recalls mid-century garden gowns, while the exposed shoulders and concealed pockets keep the reference from becoming nostalgic.


More convincing is the black sculptural top worn with ivory trousers. Gathered folds radiate across the bodice like petals closing inward, while pointed extensions disrupt the predictability of strapless eveningwear. The high-waisted trousers bring length and control beneath the concentrated volume. Here, Garcia shows that her floral language can be cut, folded, and built without relying on flowers as imagery.


The ivory midi dress is gentler but fully resolved, with a square neckline and fitted bodice establishing order before broad shoulder ties introduce movement. A raised leaf-like texture keeps the monochrome surface active, while the exposed ankle pulls the dress away from bridal convention. The result belongs as easily at a formal lunch as it does at a civil ceremony.


The navy gown and red cocktail dress reveal the collection’s two poles. One expands through glossy folds into old Hollywood scale, while the other compresses the same thinking into a lean sheath with an asymmetric bow at the hip, releasing into a long side panel. In red, every seam becomes part of the silhouette, proving that color can carry structural weight.


Garcia is strongest when femininity is understood as something constructed, with recurring bows built into the garments to carry volume, direct movement, and disrupt proportion. The next challenge will be pushing this narrative further into daywear. For now, Garcia has built a credible bridge from bridal couture to a wider social wardrobe and does not apologize for beauty, glamour, or the pleasure of being noticed.
