Beautiful People Spring/Summer 2027: A Wardrobe In Natural E

Beautiful People’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection, Tuned to a Natural E, arrives with the particular pressure of an anniversary season. For Hidenori Kumakiri, the 20-year mark becomes a fitting room with the lights turned up: what still fits, what has stretched, what can be carried into a different life? The answer came through clothes built for transit, a wardrobe passing through school corridors, officers’ clubs, station platforms, salons, and city heat.

The collection’s key idea, borrowed from the natural E of a guitar, gave Kumakiri a precise metaphor that stayed close to the garments. A guitar tuned to natural E draws out what is already inside the instrument. Beautiful People used that principle to ask how clothing can meet the body while keeping its own pitch. That question mattered most in the silhouettes, which often began with familiar codes and then loosened them through proportion, cloth, and movement.

Kumakiri opened the conversation through tailoring, with a cropped navy cutaway jacket extending into long side panels that turned the blazer’s expected hem into something more mobile, almost like tails softened for daylight. Beneath it, high-waisted pleated trousers carried weight and length, while a floral shirt brought domestic warmth into the formality. Later, a broad black blazer hovered over a neon yellow layer with no trousers in sight, using the jacket as a frame for exposure and proving how modern menswear can be dressed up and vulnerable at the same time.

The military references were kept equally measured, with a compact black peacoat, epaulettes, and gold buttons finding their charge through acid-yellow trousers, a red bag, and white sneakers, shifting the uniform into urban memory. A long black coat over a striped V-neck knit and pleated shorts moved closer to academia, with bare legs and pink shoes pulling the look away from institutional correctness.

Sleeveless tops, cropped technical jackets, wide denim, utility pockets, sailor collars, and glossy leather trousers created a language of wrapping, carrying, and reassembling. Nothing felt merely layered for styling. The blue shell jacket over beige and black underlayers suggested protection built in fragments. The khaki utility jacket gave travel clothing an edited ease. The red cropped top with huge washed denim trousers turned athletic memory into engineered volume, youthful with worked-through maturity.

Kumakiri’s skill as a patternmaker remains the engine, with pieces that look casual revealing precise decisions at the neckline, hem, waistband, and shoulder. The white sailor-collar shirt in the closing look floated above black leather trousers with an almost fragile crispness, giving boyhood a harder afterimage. Natural E works because it treats beauty as a condition to be tuned through the body. After 20 years, Beautiful People avoids the grand anniversary gesture. It listens closely to the garment, the body, and the person already moving inside both.
