When you first take in Uma Wang’s Spring/Summer 2026 collection, one thing stands out immediately: everything looks beautifully lived-in. Not distressed in the typical fashion sense, but worn in the way a favorite garment fades over years of use—handled, cherished, and softened by time. It’s a subtle but emotional design move, one that signals care and history.

This season, Wang draws deeply from the cultural heritage of Bhutan, a country known for its rich textile traditions and spiritual philosophy—and channels it through their lens of loose tailoring, textured fabrics, and poetic silhouettes. The “worn” effect throughout the collection hums with nostalgia, suggesting pieces that have been passed down, loved, and reinterpreted over time.

One of the more direct nods to Bhutanese tradition appears in Wang’s reimagining of the Gho, Bhutan’s national men’s robe. Instead of a literal adaptation, Wang transforms the silhouette into a jumpsuit with voluminous, oversized trousers—a smart subversion that maintains the soul of the original. The oversized aesthetic carries through the entire lineup: sleeveless tops float over ultra-wide-leg trousers; technical jackets and longline coats drape effortlessly thanks to airy, breathable fabrics that feel tailor-made for summer’s more languid pace. There’s a fluidity here that feels deliberate—silhouettes that don’t constrain the body but rather move with it.

Elsewhere, coordinating sets come adorned with jacquard floral motifs that feel lifted from traditional Bhutanese patterns filtered through texture and tone, not direct replication. It’s a quiet kind of homage, built more on feeling than accuracy. Uma Wang's Spring/Summer 2026 collection honors the Bhutanese tradition, bringing its essence into contemporary silhouettes that still feel grounded in respect and storytelling.
