There are summer clothes, and then there are clothes that understand summer as a way of living. For Spring/Summer 2027, Zegna returned to the Italian idea of Villeggiatura, not as vacation dressing in the conventional sense, but as the seasonal relocation of an entire life. Family, conversation, and elegance move together, settling somewhere warmer, slower, and closer to the water.

Presented on Malibu Pier, with the Pacific stretching behind it, the collection translated that old Italian instinct into a wardrobe for the modern traveler. The silhouettes were long, fluid, and gently shaped. Jackets softened at the shoulder. Trousers fell with ease. Tailored shorts appeared beneath blazers, safari jackets, and lightweight duster coats, dissolving the last traces of corporate formality.

Stripes became the collection’s defining language. Fine, irregular, and sometimes layered from shirt to suit, they created a sense of movement, like sunlight shifting across water. Yet the real luxury was found in washed hemp, raw silk, Oasi linen, seersucker, bouclé toweling, nappa, and nubuck. Fabrics appeared puckered, open, crumpled, and tactile, precious without looking precious.

The strongest pieces sat somewhere between tailoring, leisurewear, and utility. A belted sahariana became the season’s anchor, joined by short-sleeved overshirts, supple knitted jackets, leather anoraks, and half-zip pullovers with the ease of vintage sailing clothes. Open-knit polos and blousons carried a 1970s resort mood, sharpened by clean proportions and an exacting hand.

Elsewhere, matching sets blurred the line between pajamas, workwear, and traditional suiting. Open collars, patch pockets, contrast stitching, and loosely coordinated separates suggested a man dressing from instinct. Even the more polished looks retained a sense of intimacy, as though they had already absorbed the salt, heat, and habits of a long summer away.

Colors such as aquatic greens and blues met terracotta, teak, shell, dune, and tobacco brown, creating the washed, late-summer palette of a villa lived in for months. Silk scarves, square sunglasses, capacious nubuck bags, and feather-soft moccasins completed the picture.

For Spring/Summer 2027, the Zegna man does not abandon elegance when he leaves the city. He loosens it, lets it breathe, and carries it elsewhere, treating summer not as a break from real life but as life conducted at a slower, more beautiful tempo.
