Larriet has always understood that ordinary clothes do not require ordinary pictures. The Melbourne label may be known for its relaxed take on workwear—roomy trousers, practical jackets, and not so complicated shirting—but its campaigns have never been content to simply document a collection. A gentle stallion, the disciplined grace of a ballet dancer, or the relentless movement of Tokyo might enter the frame, lending a certain poetry to clothes designed for everyday life.

That same element has found its way to the Philippines. While browsing Tropa Store, Larriet’s Manila stockist, we came across a series of photographs that place the brand within the local landscape. Its clothes appear beside a rusting bicycle, against weathered concrete and across rural settings that feel lived in rather than manufactured. There is no pristine studio or conspicuous luxury here. Instead, the Larriet is presented as it should be, worn naturally, gathering character from the people and places around it.

The real magic, however, comes from lolos, lolas, titos, and titas (grandfather, grandmother, uncle, and aunt) that modelled for Tropa Store. Their presence does more than repeat the familiar argument that style has no age limit. It gives the clothing an emotional dimension that conventional fashion campaigns often miss. A loose jacket or pair of work trousers suddenly carries the ease, humor, and self-possession that only come with experience.

There is also something very Filipino about seeing older generations presented with this degree of style and dignity. Our lolos, lolas, titos, and titas are often the custodians of family stories, domestic traditions, and ways of dressing that existed long before social media began documenting personal style. To place them at the center of a campaign is a statement about inclusivity and an acknowledgement of what has always been there.

Perhaps that is why the images feel so faithful to Larriet’s ethos. These are not clothes designed to impose an identity upon the wearer but to settle comfortably into an existing life. On younger bodies, they can appear modern and sometimes oversized. In an older generation, they feel assured and practical. In Manila, Larriet found proof that good clothes can move between cities, cultures, and generations without losing their meaning.
