Juancho Triviño Grace In The Making

From being a host at a morning show, Unang Hirit, to evolving into an actor, his journey has always been about transformation.

Almost three months ago, Juancho Triviño posted a quiet but meaningful update to his 350,000 Instagram followers—a short reel showing glimpses of concrete walls, steel beams, and sunlight pouring into empty spaces. To anyone else, it might have looked like another home in progress. But for Triviño, it was far more than that. It was the start of a dream realized—his first family home, built with years of perseverance, grit, and grace. A home that carries the weight of thirteen years in the ever-evolving, often unforgiving Philippine entertainment industry.

In showbusiness, relevance flickers with every new face that enters the screen; staying grounded takes work. For Triviño, the grind was never just about staying seen; it was about staying true. From being a host at a morning show, Unang Hirit, to evolving into an actor, his journey has always been about transformation.

And if there is one role that has come to define his ability to disappear into character, it’s Padre Salvi, the troubled priest from Maria Clara at Ibarra, whose presence still lingers in Triviño’s mind and soul. “Okay sige, say what you want, okay lang minumura ako, that’s kind of a compliment towards Padre Salvi,” he said once in his vlog, smiling through the sting of an online troll. Because when you play the villain so convincingly, sometimes people forget the actor behind the role, and when it happens, it means you’ve done something unforgettable.

Eventually, Maria Clara at Ibarra became a cultural phenomenon, and it gave him his first acting award for his role at the 3rd Annual TAG Awards Chicago.

On the other hand, his role as Hector in Lolong offered a comical, light-hearted charm (yes, we are aware that he was an antagonist) that fans of his TikTok will recognize instantly, especially in his scenes with Gemma and Aling Chona. That innate bubbliness, effortless as it is endearing, hints at an actor capable of pivoting to romantic comedy with ease.

When we asked how he would describe his life in the industry, he said, “My life as an actor has always been exciting, from the roles that I was blessed enough to play up until the experiences that have affected my life as well. After 13 years already being in the industry, I have no regrets.” He’s played saints and sinners, lovers and villains. But what excites him most about acting is the transformation—that he gets to play different personalities. And if you ask him for advice on breaking into acting, there’s no sugar-coating. “Go for it. Make the craft your passion. Learn as much as you can. Get as much experience as you can. And when the time comes, your preparation and hard work will be rewarded.” It’s not built for a pull quote or a viral soundbite. It’s lived-in wisdom—earned on sets where the days are long and the lights are harsh, in audition rooms and failed takes, in silence and slow triumph.

But there’s another story that has unfolded alongside his career, one far more personal. Before he met his wife, Joyce Pring, something didn’t sit quite right. “Before I met her, I was not really happy with my life,” he said. He sees it now, even in old photos on his Instagram feed—a hollow undertone he didn’t notice at the time. Then came Joyce. Not a savior, not a solution, but a partner. A vibrant force. A mirror that challenged him, loved him, and ultimately helped him evolve.

His favorite photo of them is beautifully uneventful. There are no sweeping poses or stylized backdrops. Just the two of them, smiling under colorful lights. “Relentless, passionate, and generous” is how he describes her. And if there’s one thing he hasn’t told her often enough, it’s this: “Thank you for your sacrifices.” Don’t get him wrong, it's not that he has not appreciated her; to this day, he courts her like it’s day one, takes her on vacations, and makes her laugh. Their love story didn’t just change his outlook on life; it grounded him and changed his mindset. And together, they’ve stepped into a new, often chaotic chapter: parenthood.

Trivino describes his life as a father as the best experience ever. What he loves most is how his kids change day by day, moment by moment, as if growing is their superpower. They’ve taught him more than any mentor or masterclass could. “Patience. Understanding. Sacrificial love.” And while he’s quick to say he doesn’t cook—“I make them cereals”—his parenting style clearly is less about perfection and more about presence. He’s just trying to be there every single moment.

Even the way he dresses speaks of someone who values comfort over performance. His fashion sense is rooted in practicality; drift shirts for airflow, plain tees for easy styling, waterproof jackets for the Manila monsoon, and Nike Vomero 5s that keep him moving between takes and toddler-chasing. His signature look isn’t overthought. It’s lived-in, worn with intention, like his characters. Like his choices.

From what we discovered, Triviño is not interested in curating a version of himself that fits the mold. After countless roles he played, the followers he gained, and the dreams he ticked off, he remained true to himself. He still showed up, did everything with purpose—and most importantly, he did everything with love.
