"I don’t like this hotel,” my mom said upon arriving at our first hotel in Boracay. My mom took one look at the location and immediately voiced her disappointment. Tucked away in a narrow alley just two minutes from the beach, the hotel didn’t quite live up to its advertised promise. Although the room was okay, I knew we had to find a new accommodation, as it was clear that this wasn’t the place we had envisioned for our stay.
Thankfully, on the same day, we were able to secure a last-minute reservation at the Mandarin Island Hotel. The guest service attendant at that time was incredibly accommodating, and they organised everything swiftly. When it comes to guest service, the hotel has truly mastered this. Upon our arrival, cold beverages were served and small cakes were waiting in our room.
Our room was located at the very end of the hallway, so there was not much to expect in terms of the view. It was clean, spacious, and featured an exceptionally comfortable bed. The hotel has a pool near the lobby, and the on-site Italian restaurant, Don Vito, offers delicious Italian cuisine. However, a word of advice: if you order Halo-Halo, be prepared for the ice cream to melt quickly due to the extreme heat in the Philippines, so placing the milkshake glass in a bowl might help. They also offers a buffet breakfast each morning, offering a diverse selection of both Filipino and continental options.

What truly sets the Mandarin Island Hotel apart is the way they treat their guests. The attentive guest service team checked in with us daily to ensure everything was perfect. My mom and I came to Boracay to escape the hustle of city life, relax, and enjoy the island’s beauty. Mandarin Island Hotel provided the ideal backdrop for our retreat, allowing us to unwind under the sun and savour the island’s crystal clear waters.
By the end of our stay, I asked my mom if she loved this hotel. She smiled and simply said, "Yes, I love this hotel"
