Pronounce's Fall 2024 collection explores the concept of transformation and ambiguity found in "The Butterfly Dream" a notable passage by Chinese philosopher Zhuangzi, which was translated through corduroy ropes and loops, serving as the primary design motif.
The collection featured pieces with rope outlines accentuating the structure of garments, and loopy patterns were applied to sleeveless vests, shearling jackets, blazers, and coats. These intricate patterns added a playful yet edgy twist to classic silhouettes, making them more unique. In addition, some of the best looks include a sleeveless jacket with rope knots, paired with matching trousers, and a layered subversive maxi dress with a raw hemline that exudes couture elegance.
The collection's inspiration from "The Butterfly Dream" was evident in its exploration of transformation and ambiguity. The loops and ropes symbolize the confusion experienced by the Daoist thinker in the passage, while the gradual decrease of these motifs throughout the collection represents clarity and the final stage of transformation.
